Sign-up to 'Spring Clean' Oxfordshire
With 781 people from 36 different Oxfordshire groups already registered in the county-wide Spring Clean so far, Oxfordshire will be well and truly spruced up this March.
In addition, over 100 local groups took part in OxClean's Spring Clean 2009, held in Oxford City at the start of the month (6 and 7 March). Last year, groups collected over 11.5 tonnes of rubbish and recyclables, and the totals were even higher this year with over 13 tonnes picked up.
Groups from all over Oxfordshire are adding to the excellent work done in the city by taking part in the county-wide Spring Clean coordinated by Oxfordshire Waste Partnership (OWP).
Active 'tidy-upper' and chair of OWP Cllr John Tanner is urging more residents to get involved in the Spring Clean: "Small actions of local community groups really can make a big difference to the appearance of our already clean county. With a £250 prize up for grabs for one lucky group, there's even more incentive to spring clean your little bit of Oxfordshire!"
Residents can register a Spring Clean online or by calling their local district council. They will be provided with equipment to carry out a litter pick, and be entered into a prize draw to win £250.
