More cash up for grabs for spring clean

Following the successes of last September's Big Tidy Up and OxClean Spring Clean 2008, Oxfordshire Waste Partnership (OWP) is coordinating another countywide litter tidy up this March.

OxClean’s annual spring clean event will take place on March 6 and 7 2009. This year Oxfordshire councils will be supporting resident tidy ups around the county for the rest of the month.

Any group can get help and support organising a spring clean. District councils will be providing litter-picking equipment and taking away any collected litter and recyclables.

In addition to this support, OWP is again offering a £250 cash prize to one of the lucky community groups who get tidying up. Big-hearted Beaver Scouts in Steventon won £250 during September’s Big Tidy Up and generously used the money for presents for Abington Hospital patients and gave money towards Youlbury chapel’s sensory garden.

Cllr John Tanner, chair of OWP took part in the Big Tidy Up himself. He says, “We know community minded individuals will always come together to make a real difference in their areas, but we hope in these difficult financial times a £250 prize will prove a great reward for one lucky group. "
